A Progressive Christian Community in South Austin... Where a faith worth having is a faith worth sharing.

Christian Education

Our church believes that the Christian life is a life-long journey in which we are called to reflect on the core values of the Gospel of Jesus and to seek to apply these values in Christian practices that address contemporary life issues both at a personal level and at a social level as well. Consequently, our church has a Christian education program for all ages on Sunday mornings except during the summer months, immediately after our 9:45-10:45am worship service. During the summer, we use this time for snacks, refreshments and fellowship. Our education classes for children, youth, and adults utilize denominational and ecumenical resource materials to help us interpret the Bible and to address how our faith engages and instructs us in the social, political, and economic issues of our time.   One of the unifying themes of our church's education program is to help folks understand and appreciate the affirmations that make up our church's identity and ministry within the progressive Christianity movement.

Our congregation's ministry is also strengthened through a variety of fellowship and education activities, including a Fourth Tuesday luncheon for members and friends, periodic Community Forums on topics related to faith and culture, interfaith dialogues, a Presbyterian Women’s gathering, and a monthly book discussion group which meets in the church library to discuss selected readings and non-traditional expressions of the Christian faith.

We invite you to share in our Christian journey of faith by attending our Christian education classes that are held from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Sundays, or any of the community forums we hold at other times.
