A Word from Our Interim Pastor

Perhaps like you, I am new to this website and to Faith Presbyterian Church. As the interim pastor, I'm here for a fixed period of time as the congregation moves toward new established leadership. Sometimes people delay getting involved in a church during an interim period because they may feel it is all going to change. Well, I would invite you to embrace this as one of the overall benefits and one of the positive features of our community at Faith Presbyterian Church. As Progressive Christians, we believe in always being open to the fresh winds of the Spirit and wherever she may lead us. Change and diversity are our constants and we embrace them.

One of the things that attracted me to this community of faith as interim pastor is how active our congregation has been in Austin and the surrounding area on issues of poverty, homelessness, hunger, the environment, LGBT equality, interfaith dialogue, peacemaking, and global justice, among many others. Over time, I've also learned of the daily dedication of volunteers who run our food pantry which serves the entire South Austin area and our Child Development Center that offers a loving and caring environment in which children will grow and learn mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This is truly an exceptional place.

I hope you will join our community for worship this Sunday at 9:45 a.m. so you can get a feel for this congregation. We are beginning an exciting next chapter at Faith Presbyterian Church and we would truly welcome you to be a part of it.
